hello friends, my name is brent and this is the digital center for my project on the world wide web. please enjoy your stay

my studio might not look like a "million dollar studio", but it isn't the size or cost that matters nowadays. the center of my studio is the little white laptop in front of the chair. if you turn your attention to the image behind this text you will notice a complex diagram. that is the schematic for an instrument i built that exists entirely inside the computer. computers nowadays are so fast that they can model racks and racks of expensive outboard hardware. the only things the computer can't emulate well enough are the real instruments you see in the picture. The mics and the A/D (that's analog to digital) interface are the gateway bridging both worlds.

Actually the arrangement was my main focus. I didn't spend enough time on the electronics...got caught up with the vocals and making it a song before I really got deep into the electronics. Well it's a step in the right direction at least.

there are two basic kinds of recording, studio and live. i experiment with both. studio recordings are strong because mistakes can be meticulously fixed. live recordings are strong because they have that intangible real quality
